“My continuing passion is to part a curtain, that invisible shadow that falls
between people, the veil of indifference to each other’s presence, each other’s wonder, each other’s human plight.”
— Eudora Welty
Let Yourself Write provides two services:
1. Writing groups that use the Amherst Writers & Artists method, for writers who want to deepen their creativity and enjoy the support of a safe, stimulating community while writing. We write in response to prompts that I provide (though people are always free to ignore the prompts and write what they want or need to write in the moment). We read our newly written work aloud (this is always optional). We give and receive feedback that is constructive, positive, and that helps build our craft and our artistic self-esteem. As facilitator, I write and read my work aloud at least once in every session. To learn more, see my blog.
Alison Hicks, Senior Partner at AWA, calls the Amherst Writers & Artists method “the closest thing to studio training that the literary world offers.”
2. Coaching and editing for students and authors of fiction, non-fiction, and academic papers. Previous clients have told me that the work with me has changed their life, and that nowhere else have they received such helpful, insightful, or caring feedback as what I provide. I’m rigorous, I care about good writing, and I care about the psyche of the writer.
